Reception Intake - September 2026

Thank you for taking the time to find out more about our school for your child. Choosing a primary school can be daunting – you may feel a little overwhelmed with information and have lots of questions to ask.

We are thrilled to announce that we will be running Reception Open Days for prospective families during Autumn Term 2025. We have always enjoyed and valued these sessions as they provide you with a real insight into life at Oakhill. Here you will have the opportunity to talk through the admissions process with the EYFS Team, ask questions and show you around the Reception Classroom environment.

To book a visit, please contact the school office at the next open day in October.

What we offer...

Our Reception classroom has been thoughtfully designed to provide a calm yet stimulating environment, offering a wide range of open-ended activities and opportunities for independent learning. Children are encouraged to play, explore, and investigate in spacious areas both indoors and outdoors. Inside, we have dedicated zones for sensory play—including sand and water under our conservatory—alongside a cosy reading corner, a creative area, and a role play space. Technology is an important part of our curriculum, with iPads and Chromebooks regularly used to support and enhance learning.

Reception children enjoy free-flow access to our outdoor learning area, where they can develop their gross motor skills using trikes, scooters, and the climbing frame. They also love exploring natural materials, building dens, experimenting in the mud kitchen, and challenging themselves on the adventure play area. Our on-site Forest School, led by trained Forest School leaders, offers sessions throughout the year, and our Early Years Forest Play area is always available to support outdoor learning.

For families needing extended hours, our Squirrels Club Breakfast Club welcomes children from 8:00am, providing a safe and friendly start to the day.
