Growing and Succeeding Together
Intent Statement for Computing
At Oakhill Primary School Federation, we strive to prepare our children for a future in an environment which is shaped by technology.
The national curriculum for computing aims to ensure that all pupils:
The provision we offer and the opportunities given equip the pupils with computational thinking and creativity in order to understand the principles of information and computation and how digital systems work alongside programming.
As well as the benefits of ICT, we are also aware of the risks. Therefore we prepare our children to stay safe online through the use of online safety sessions and the annual celebration of safer internet day, which is on 8th February 2022 with the theme 'All Fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online'.
The above statements are met through the implementation of the Entrust Education technologies Computing Scheme of Work.
Alongside this, we deliver Digital literacy though specific lessons aligned to the Education for a connected world through the Project Evolve Toolkit. This provision ensures they become digitally literate so that they can express themselves and develop their ideas through information and computer technology– at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.
